In the heart of Sydney's inner west, Field + Fin has reimagined urban agriculture through an innovative fusion of traditional bush cooking and cutting-edge farming technology. This unique venue transforms shipping containers into vertical gardens and mushroom farms, while fish swim in aquaponic systems below – all part of a closed-loop ecosystem that produces fresh, sustainable food meters from where it's served.
Founded by conservationist Daryl Byrne, Field + Fin brings the spirit of remote wilderness cooking to the city. The outdoor fire kitchen and gathering space invites guests to experience the raw connection between farm and flame, while supporting marine conservation efforts in Papua New Guinea through profit sharing.
By combining sustainable urban farming with experiential dining, Field + Fin demonstrates how clever design can transform city spaces into productive, community-centered food systems that inspire, educate, and delight.
